Once you land an internship or job at a beauty brand, you might wonder what you should bring to work with you in your first week on the job and then later down the road as you’ve started to build a career at a brand what should your desk or workspace look like?
Some beauty brands require 100% in office work commitments, others offer hybrid (work in-office some days and others from home), and some offer fully remote positions.
100% In-Office
No matter what your position or department, all new employees should always come prepared in office with the following items…
- Bring all items required by job recruiter or hiring manager with you on your 1st day
- Bring a lined notebook and be prepared with a pen in hand for note-taking during all meetings
- Bring a good work bag with you containing your notebook, pens, and a backup pair of shoes if need be
- Continue to follow 2 & 3 throughout your career daily!
- After about a month or so on the job and you’ve gotten settled or comfortable with your team, you can slowly add some more personalized elements to your desk space. You just never want to show up with a large box as if you’re planning on moving in LOL 😉 Be wise and subtle about it, respect office rules (HR should provide some guidelines on what they allow at your desk).

Remote Work Environment
If you’re working fully remote from home, your new team is likely to mail you a company computer in advance of your start date (this is not always the case, but you can confirm this in advance with your hiring manager). You’ll need to work with your companies I.T. team to get it set up and obtain logins in advance.
Try to make a clear workspace somewhere in your home where you can dedicate your quiet work environment with as little to no distractions as possible. As long as you are an official employee for the company, you should check with HR to find out if they offer any work from home office supply or home office setup reimbursements (not all companies offer this, but it’s worth looking into just to be sure).
Should you wish to set up a new desk station (totally optional), here are some of my favorite WFH office supplies with shopable links below:
